What is a theme?
A theme is basically a collection of files that controls the overall look and feel of the site. Instead of traditionally-used individual files, with a theme you make one change and it generally affects the whole site (or at least the pages you’d like it to, through individual templates). It keeps the look consistent across the entire website, so you can focus on the content. This elegant separation of form and function also allows you a great degree of creative freedom in designing how the site looks (with a few limitations, of course).
